Un/non sellable Poem-Kushal Poddar

Kushal Poddar – Speculative thoughts and a bird

Heretics, Lovers, and Madmen

Let’s make children for
those detention centers,
one more, once more.

In the cells of vapor
a face becomes the other.
The other another.

All return, you know;
only you don’t know
what they look like

A bird on your shower room
window sill stares at you
as if you’re its day’s grain or its genesis.

Wish for Wings

Christine Ray – Even angels need love.

Brave & Reckless

you stand with your back to me
I, transfixed
by how your wings attach
to blades of shoulders
already burdened by the weight
of humanity’s sorrow
of the demands
of gods with no mercy
how can mere bone
bear this additional weight
of a thousand ivory feathers
without folding
to the ground?
the strip of bare skin
that separates
your magnificent wings
calls to me
my hand reaches out
palm extended
to trace
the path of smooth muscle
the intake of your breath
the rapid beats of our hearts
the only sound
as I press my cheek
to that vulnerable spot
you are stiff for a moment
before relaxing fully
against me
guiding my arms firmly
around your waist
holding them tight
accepting the comfort
of my warm
human touch

Daily Writing Prompt: If You Could Be Mine – Sara Farizan

The Daily Writing Prompt for 9/30 – If You Could Be Mine

Brave & Reckless

Throughout the month of September, I will be providing a daily writing prompt based on the title of a well-regarded book where the main character is a lesbian or a woman exploring her sexual identity. I know that this is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I have very carefully chosen titles that I thought could be creatively inspiring to anyone.  You certainly don’t need to be a lesbian or even a woman to participate, nor does your response piece need to be written from a lesbian perspective.  These are designed to inspire you to write a poem, prose piece, or a piece of flash fiction in 30 minutes or less.

The only rule is that you use the book title as your piece title OR integrate all the words in the title into your piece somehow

If you would like to have your piece considered for publication on…

Dirty little hammers

OldPunk is back at Sudden Denouement

gritty, my old friend. hello, ‘ello you fucking scratching things. i remember the walls and the pain of it but i couldn’t cut you out. we can bless each other in fallacy, but i refuse to not feel rough tears and forensic emotions we buried in a box of scarred fears. we reuse those old habits as if half smoked cigarettes will really satisfy. it’s still nice to pretend we know how to care but more than I can bear, this burden of dropping homes and skipping stones across blurred visions that surround our losses. Bare that broken heart and collapsing mind, evangelical evocations ring clearly in and out of this place. i smell the hate that drives this damage and it makes me stupid drunk with paranoid afraid. who the fuck am i to say anything anymore? what’s speech, when what’s said is a stain, stigmata we’ve carved into…

A peaceful, soul healing day at Lake Jocassee.

LuckyOtter – A much needed day off

Nature is the best therapist, and is so much cheaper.

First, the backstory (and why I needed this day and others like it).

I haven’t really discussed it much on this blog, but since her marriage in January, my daughter and her husband have been struggling with opioid/opiate addiction (at the moment, they are both in recovery),  but for my daughter, her addiction is complicated by out of control mood swings.  She has no official diagnosis, but her rapid and intense mood swings that range from deep and debilitating depressions that make her sleep for days, to manic episodes where she can’t sleep at all and flies into rages easily seems to indicate bipolar disorder (which does run in my family, and my son has it too, but his is more under control because of coping skills he’s learned, and his may…

Jan Malique – A Twittering Tale expanded, darkly.

Strange Goings On In The Shed

This story is an offshoot of one of my entries for Kat Myrmans’s Twittering Tales.

The story was entitled the Relic.

You may infer from the title that it was a mini-chiller. Or not. I’m making an assumption, so apologies. Kat posts a new writing prompt every Tuesday, they’re enormously fun, and test one’s ability to create a succinct story in 280 characters.

As for this strange offspring, what can I say? The tone is darker, unclear even. It gestated in the mind pretty quickly. I ‘saw’ its form and wondered whether it would be appropriate to release into the light. Horror is not a genre I’ve dallied with on a regular basis, not even sure my efforts would be effective. Regardless, I’m willing to try. The protagonist in “The Relic” appears here, she has a task to undertake, and carries it out splendidly. No spoilers…

Oh, Amy
Whenever I go walking
In my stilettos,
I hear you talking.
Dream me up a way
Of swishing my hips
And pursing my lips
And singing your riffs
So that I find beauty
Like you.

The Weyward Sisters: Hand in Hand –

In the end there will be fire and ash
But to us it will be like the Fourth of July
What could be more powerful than women
Standing together in solidarity
We’re taking a page out of Lilith’s book
The one you never read
We will not lie on the bottom
We will stand side by side.

The shield-maidens dine
Tonight, too.

we have birthed a beast.
