The Marshall Fire Tragedy and How You Can Help

Susie Lindau describes the catastrophic fires in Colorado (she is not in the fire area, but close), and tips if you wan to help the victims.

Susie Lindau's Wild Ride

For those of you who know I live in Boulder County, I am safe and sound. Thank you to those who reached out. I appreciate your concern. I’ve been concerned.

Since I’m in the mountains, these pictures are from other fires.

On fire in Colorado - a bright orange sunset in Boulder county

When checking out Twitter yesterday, I was alarmed when Boulder was trending. The Middle Fork Fire was located directly across the valley from our neighborhood. Since high winds were reported, I frantically scrolled to find up-to-the-second information.

By then, the Marshall Fire had exploded in a high-density neighborhood. 110 MPH winds blew down power lines. Subsequent sparks caused the inferno that engulfed Superior and Louisville south of Boulder. Reporters said that grassfires swept across dry fields at one hundred yards every ten seconds. Think about that…

Since I was in the mountains, I called a neighbor to find out if our neighborhood was safe. I wondered how long it…

The Daily Song: What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve – Ella Fitzgerald

Risking a question

Brave & Reckless

Ella Fitzgerald. What else is there to say?

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve

Maybe it’s much too early in the game
Aah, but I thought I’d ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year’s
New Year’s Eve?Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it’s exactly twelve o’clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year
New Year’s Eve
Maybe I’m crazy to suppose
I’d ever be the one you chose
Out of a thousand invitations
You received

Aah, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year’s
New Year’s Eve?

Ghosts of Christmas Past: Home alone – Georgiann Carlson

In comfort

Brave & Reckless

being home alone
is like having a slice
of the best chocolate cake
you’ve ever had
along with the perfect cup of tea
a book that you love
fuzzy slippers
and a big comfy chair
there’s a sense of freedom
in being alone
but there’s a difference
in being home alone
and never expecting
anyone else
to arrive

2021 in the Review: Goals Met!

Calico Jack continues to review the year at the blog and has some reasons for hope.

The Psy of Life

2021 is exiting on the upswing! Not #COVID19 infections, although, they are swinging upward around the world, too. But here in the waning days of the year, we’ve achieved ANOTHER personal best at Ye Olde Blogge! We broke the record for the most likes in one day! Thursday saw us garner 24 likes. Fantastic.

The end of the year requires a look back and a look forward. Here’s a few of my favorite things about Ye Olde Blogge in 2021!

Readers, Supporters, and Visitors

One of my favorite things are the people who come and visit the blog to browse, read, or bounce right on out again! Without those folks, the blog likely wouldn’t have made it through the lean years. I am deeply grateful and humbled by them all.

I am very grateful for all who have left a sign of…

Small Publishers versus the Rest – Candice Louisa Daquin

Candice Louisa Daquin on the Indie Blu(e) publisher and author relationship.

Brave & Reckless

Indie Blu(e) Publishing has garnered a reputation for working closely with our authors to ensure the very best work they’re capable of, is the final product. It can be a frustrating journey if you haven’t taken it before. Nobody likes edits, nobody likes suggestions, because at first, they seem just critical. From our combined years in publishing, we understand that feeling but challenge our authors to go further and do their very best. Any publisher worth their salt will offer suggestions to make an author’s work better, it doesn’t invalidate anything, it strengthens the relationship. That’s what we do and that’s what sets us apart from self-publishing or publishing with bigger companies who do not have the time to put into their authors.

Having published with other publishers, this was one core goal at Indie Blu(e)’s inception: To be there for our authors, not just feed them in and spit…
