A NEW TAKE ON AN OLD SYMBOL

We’ve all seen those flags and signs so beloved by some on the political right, the ones with the motto, “DON’T TREAD ON ME”, with a picture of a rattlesnake. Well, I am imagining a reworking and purposing of that design. The motto would be, “DON’T TREAD ON SHE”, and I think the snake is changed to the mythic Hydra, the many-headed serpent or dragon. Perhaps, each head could represent a different race, ethnicity, culture, or such, and if it is a dragon, it might want to have rainbow wings. This is a project far beyond my meager artistic abilities, so I offer it up for others more blessed in that department. Another image that came to mind was Medusa with her hair of snakes, but the hydra is a more direct reference to the old design.
